Lakeland
Bulldog Club Of Pennsylvania
The Lakeland Bulldog Club Of Pennsylvania was founded July
1, 1991, in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.
The club's aim is to educate, aid, and support its members in
providing the best care for bulldogs owned by members, as well as the breed in
general. There are currently 31 members. Annual dues are $10 per member.
Some of the founding members were Dale, Paula, and
Stephanie Flippin, Burt and Linda Waite, Jim and Barb Smith, Sam and Marge
Patrei and Walt and Anna Bloom.
The club's first match was held at the Mercer Community
Center in Mercer, Pennsylvania, in March 1992. Its primary purpose was to
attract new members to the club.
The club presently offers an annual spring fun match for
novice showmen to hone their handling skills. This match has been proven to be
successful for years because perfection is not a requirement. Having fun is.
Other annual club activities have included summer picnics
and participation in the Meadville Jaycees Halloween parade, which is currently
the largest nighttime parade in Pennsylvania. Bulldogs are always a big hit
here because Meadville High School’s mascot is a bulldog that is coincidentally
associated with the Lakeland Bulldog Club Of Pennsylvania.
Club meetings are generally held at 3 p.m. on Sunday in
Mercer, Pennsylvania. A club newsletter provides a monthly meeting notice and
agenda.
