Goober was the top winning Non-Sporting Group dog in 1976, totaling 48 career all-breed Best In Show awards in all. He was the top winning Non-Sporting Group sire in 1978. He was also a three-time Beckett Award winning sire.

Frank was the Dean of Learning Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He moved to North Carolina, where he won awards from the Institute for Supply Management resulting from his development of the highly regarded Purchasing Managers Series in the Carolinas and Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, the former Kathryn Golding, three children, two stepdaughters, a sister, 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
