Phil Douglas

1930 – 2008

~In Memoriam~

Phillip Douglas 77, Westfield, died July 8, 2008. He was born in Bloomington on December 3, 1930. Phil was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. Following the war he worked for his uncle as a plumber.

In 1957 he started at the Ford Motor Company as a pipefitter. Following his presidency of the UAW Local 1111 he advancd to being a national negotiator for UAW. At the time of his retirement he started Hoosier Group Consultants, a healthcare insurance provider.

Having a passion for raising English bulldogs led him to become the president of the Bulldog Club of America. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Joan "Jodie" Douglas; daughters, Julia Porter, Scarlet Ammerman, Terri Rheeling, Jennifer Kaim; sons, Dave (Steve) Douglas, Steve (Kim) Douglas, Jim (Sheri) Kaim; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
